Projects - Ridgewood / Indian Creek Stormwater Improvements

Problem

When the Ridgewood and Indian Creek condominiums were constructed the project included only minimal stormwater treatment. In addition, the original drainage infrastructure installed throughout the development was reaching the end of its useful life and in need of replacement or repair.

Description

Residents worked with the Stormwater Utility to replace crumbling drainage infrastructure and improve stormwater treatment in the neighborhood. The project included the installation of two new stormwater detention basins, modification of an existing stormwater detention pond to improve detention, replacement of pipes and drainage infrastructure, and reconstruction of a swale that drains stormwater runoff from the Ridgewood development down to Indian Creek.

Benefit

Sediment and other pollutants are removed from stormwater runoff leaving the neighborhood. In addition, the stormwater runoff is detained and slowly released to prevent erosion of stream banks and reduce the risk of downstream flooding.
