Stormwater Treatment Practice Tours
Location Throughout South Burlington.
Problem
Lack of public understanding regarding stormwater issues.
Benefit
The tours increase the public’s knowledge of how stormwater pollutes, how
stormwater treatment practices work, and why they are important.
Description
Stormwater Utility staff regularly hosts tours of the City’s various
stormwater detention ponds and other stormwater treatment practices. Middle
school classes have included these tours as part of their regular curriculum
dealing with streams and the environment, and have conducted Benthic Macroinvertebrate
(BMI) sampling in nearby streams while on site.
